100 STEM Programs
The 100 STEM Clubs have been established in partnership with Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) and the MNPS “i3 Grow STEM” program which began in Fall 2016. Members of The 100, Collegiate 100, and 100 KINGS provide mentorship and coaching during Saturday, 5-hour STEM sessions at three area high schools: Overton, Stratford STEM, and Hunters Lane. Approximately 100 youth from 7 MNPS middle schools participate in these Saturday sessions which run from September through May. In addition, 6 weeks of STEM programming will run this summer for middle school youth on the campus of Tennessee State University.
The 100 KINGS also experience additional academic enrichment and exposure to STEM during the school year and summer program. Learning Blade is a popular experiential program which encompasses all aspects of STEM. Recently, the KINGS with support from the Collegiate 100 chapter of Meharry Medical College completed a comprehensive action plan to prepare a community for a flu epidemic. The KINGS teams presented their acton plans to a panel of Meharry students pursuing their Masters in Public Health.
